A Back Yard Farm

Bringing the Seedlings Home

by Rebecca.

I am giddy with excitement as I see the baskets of new plants being delivered to my backyard, ready to be planted.  Kale (lots of it as I am a morning kale smoothy freak), butterhead  & romaine lettuce, cabbage, parsley, thyme, fennel and green onions are all being transplanted into my garden!  Even more, seeds will be planted as well - radishes, beans, spinach, mint, potatoes, and a bunch of others I can't remember.

We are armed with a planting grid, some iron earth, a couple of trowels, and a bucket of water.  Away we go!  The day I have been anxiously awaiting! Cold weather plants are being planted for spring.  Last year at this time I was so overwhelmed by the process and now I think I am starting to feel comfortable around my backyard garden.
